Bahlam Capital took part in the IDB Invest Impact Managers’ Masterclass, held in Barbados during IDB Sustainability Week 2026 in partnership with CFA Institute. The two-day, invitation-only program brought together emerging managers, established GPs, LPs, and investment professionals from across Central America and the Caribbean. This year marked the first time the program included Central American managers.
Michael Barjum joined Bert van der Vaart of SEAF for a panel on generating exits in shallow capital markets, a central concern for both managers and LPs, moderated by Lucas de Beaufort of IDB Invest.
Our key takeaway: in a region with limited exit channels, emerging managers have very little room for error. The strategy has to fit the region, align closely with the team’s core competencies, and address the exit question from day one.
